 Tom Khight's Puppets
Tom Knight

~ October 3 ~
*The Library Boogie*
It’s a show that’s fun for kids, but savvy enough to appeal to grown-ups too.
Tom Knight is a great children’s songwriter. His shows are filled with short puppet vignettes, lots of songs and audience participation. Tom’s favorite themes are animals, food, the environment, and the importance of reading. With catchy melodies and clever lyrics, Tom Knight’s songs are easy to remember and fun to sing and most have a part for the audience, whether it is hand movements, dancing to the “Alligator Jump” or just singing along.

Over the Moon

Theatre Figuren

~ February 6 ~
*Underground, Over the Moon*
The journey of a small family is interspersed with “dreams” of Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth and filled with secret hiding places, secret codes, secret dreams and, of course, flying cows. This lyrical look at the quest for freedom is a magical experience of music and puppetry inspired by our country's greatest hardship and triumph - slavery and the underground railroad. Its characters are legendary- but they came together and risked their lives in the struggle against injustice. Theatre Figüren has performed throughout Western New York and beyond. Performer Michele Costa was the 1992 recipient of the David R. Fendrick Theatre Award.

*Sleeping Beauty*

The classic tale of Sleeping Beauty begins in King Felix’s great hall with the celebration of Princess Aurora’s birth. The party goes awry when the wicked witch arrives and curses Princess Aurora. A painted story book opens to reveal each scene, as beautifully hand-crafted marionettes are brought to life by a master puppeteer and the dramatic events unfold. Will the curse come true? Will someone with a “true heart” appear? Rabbit in Love

Puppets with Pizazz

~ April 3 ~

*Br’er Rabbit in Love*
To capture the heart of the beautiful Miss Meadows, Br'er Rabbit asks the Magic Bunny to make him a love charm. She agrees only if he will supply the ingredients: a whisker from a wildcat, a tooth from an alligator and a foot from a chicken that has been eaten by a wolf. Mischief and trickery abound in this wonderful, fast-paced African-American folk tale. Puppetmaster Nancy Sander, the "Puppet Lady of Ohio," has been performing for over twenty-five years. As principal puppeteer for the nationally syndicated television show, "Hickory Hideout" she received an Emmy Award for her work in children's television.

*Spinning Straw Into Gold*
It's the Miller's daughter that gets the short straw, so to speak. She has to straighten out the mess her father has gotten her into with the King. But she also has tricks up her sleeve as she heads for the castle, desiring to be queen.
Roland Dupres presents this beloved tale of Rumpelstiltskin in a classic hand puppet style, but the audience gets to help out as characters ask them important questions. It's the kind of puppet show people think of when they say "puppet show"!

Sunny Dooley  Sunny Dooley

The traditional stories that Sunny Dooley recounts are the same stories that have been handed down from one generation to the next in her family, stories that have been told from her matrilineal clan of the Saltwater People. The Dine' stories create the worldview of its people and their relationship to their surroundings.
Why are people, places and things the way they are? The wisdom and understanding of the past and present links us to the future.
