Open Hand Theater

Volunteering

Open Hand Theater and the International Mask and Puppet Museum has long been an exciting and rewarding place where people of all ages can become involved in the creative work of a theatrical company. Join the excitement by contributing your time and talents to this valuable cultural and educational resource.

Saturdays at the Museum

  • Help staff the box office and gift shop
  • usher and be a docent in the gallery.

Clerical Activities

Join the volunteers in the office assisting in the preparation of bulk mailings, stuffing programs and other office details.

 Building Maintenance

This wonderful old castle needs people who like to putter and are knowledgeable or interested in old buildings.

Help is needed to

  • weed the yard and gardens,
  • shovel the sidewalks, and
  • dust, mop and vacuum the interior - a great opportunity for a group!

Artistic Projects

  • Help build and repair puppets and masks, paint scenery and murals, provide graphic design skills, and assist at hands-on workshops.

Costuming

Where else can you work on a giant's costume? Help is needed to sew costumes for both actors and puppets. Skilled seamstresses preferred.

Education Programs

Work with others to develop curriculum guides and to implement our public workshops and programs for schools.

Catering

Hospitality is an art: Help is needed to provide

  • baked goods, salads, hors d'oeuvres, and
  • hospitality for the many special events and receptions held at the museum.

Main Stage Shows

  • Help is needed to staff the box office
  • gift shop and concession table
  • usher on evenings of main stage and storytelling performances.
