Museum of International Masks and PuppetsIn the middle of a city, along a busy main street, there sits a quiet castle, full of unusual art. Open Hand Theater’s Museum of International Masks and Puppets is an entrance point into historical, traditional and changing cultures, a joyfull way to celebrate our human experience. ~Hidden Worlds~Animal SpiritsA Gallery of Masks & Puppetsopens Saturday, February 2nd Gathering from the far reaches of the world, these animal images, symbols, and spirits come to life in this gallery of masks and puppets. Often the animal images are disguised, hidden and twisting within the different masks. Can you find the jaguar, or the animal symbolizing the sky? In the Parlor Gallery, life-size animal puppets made by children during Open Hand Theater’s 27 years of Circus Camp encircle the room. The Exhibit was designed through our Apprenticeship Program by guest curator Neely Kinne, and assisted by Tim Howard, Caitlin Friedberg , and Cindi Farrell . Please call ahead for an appointment to visit our beautiful museum and theater.
